During the first lesson of my AS photography I went out a took photos with the subject of 'lines'. This was unusual for me as I had never had a brief for photography quite so ambiguous however . I tried to explore different ways in which line could be represented. The camera I used for these images was not a camera in which I was familiar with so it took a while for me to feel comfortable.
I did struggle to think of photos of which I would consider would be classed as good representations of lines, I do think my photos turned out better then I originally though.
Below are three examples of my photos...
The two images above are my Favorite out of the photos I took. I like how the bricks on the floor create this pattern and how it involves the different colour inside the tiles along with the dark tile edges. I also like the way the bench is all warn out and looks very old and unique. Although I think the photo of the floor is very basic it does clearly show lines. At first I did not even consider these photos as the better ones, however after looking at my images I saw how the two show lines in a way which is not over the top or involve to much. Also I believe the seconded image reflects how lines do not have to be straight and can go in any direction, I wanted to show this in at least one of my images.
I think this is one of my weaker photos as it is not straight and there are peoples legs in the back ground. I think the idea had good intentions however the image itself did not turn out as planned. However I do believe that this photo may have been much better when the lighting is different and the sun is in a different position so it shows the shadow in a different angle.
If I was to continue with this topic I would look at lines from different angles. I would like to explore lines in more ways and in different environments. Some of the ways in which I would like to look at this topic would be look more at nature, buildings and more into people. I would like to look into the lines on peoples face, in their eyes and show how lines create individuality in people.
Here some pictures which inspire me and show how I could widen the area in which I take photos and show lines in completely different perspectives.
Overall I enjoyed exploring the topic 'lines' and was pleasantly surprised when I realised how many different ways it can be reflected or interpreted. I think it would be an interesting topic to look deeper into and explore.
