Work Diary- Mapplethorpe Location

Evaluation
I found that by shooting Mapplethorpe outside you could try and use different backgrounds and be more experimental with your photos, unlike in the studio. I went out for location Mapplethorpe after I had shoot in the studio so I had multiple ideas and had tried various different things in the studio to see if they could be linked to Mapplethorpe and his style. However at some points I found my self repeating the same positions and angles with my models as I had done in the studio.

Most of my Mapplethorpe images I have changed into black and white.  My studying Mapplethorpe I found that most of his work was in black and white and the most popular ones definitely was. I like how I took this photo portrait although I saw little of his work in this fashion I think it works well for this image. I like how this image has a slight depth within it as well. I think the brick wall in the background made a nice change to a block colour and had a good effect on the image.

This is my favorite image out of my Mapplethorpe location as I think Mapplethorpe was able to portray great emotion In a way which wasn't to complex, I believe this image shows this. I also really like the position of the person and how the background is filled with the brick wall. I think black and white worked perfectly with this image and by changing it into this effect improved the overall look of it. I think this image can be related well to the style of Mapplethorpe and his work.

Progression

If I was to continue with this Mapplethorpe work I would like to take more images in which people are laughing or involve more probe or the scene around.
